ADMISSION TO SEATS IN PROFESSIONAL COURSES
IN GOVERNMENT, UNIVERSITY
AND AIDED COURSES IN PRIVATE AIDED COLLEGES FOR THE YEAR 2006-07.
1. Applications are invited from eligible
candidates from Karnataka and the wards of Jammu & Kashmiri
migrantsfor registration for the ‘Common Entrance Test 2006’
for admission to first year Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy
/ Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga / Engineering / Technology
courses and ‘Aptitude Test 2006’ for admission to first yearArchitecture
course in Government / University / Private Aided colleges,
and also for the seats filled by the State Governmentin Un-aided
minority & non-minority institutions on the basis of consensus*
between the Government and theInstitutions which are specified
by the Government by notification for the academic year
2006-07.
2. The merit will be determined in accordance
with the provisions in the Karnataka Selection of Candidates
for Admission to Government Seats in Professional Educational
Institutions Rules, 2006. A candidate should compulsorily appear
for PCB subjects in case of Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy
/ Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses and PCM subjects in
case of Engineering / Technology courses in the Common Entrance
Test and for both Part – I & Part – II of the Aptitude Test
for admission to Architecture course.
3. ACADEMIC ELIGIBILITY : The applicant
should,
-
for Medical / Dental courses, have passed
Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th std. or equivalent exam with PHYSICS,CHEMISTRY
& BIOLOGY as optional subjects and with ENGLISH as one
of the languages of study and have obtainedat least 50%
of the aggregate marks in the PCB group and should secure
not less than 50% of marks taken togetherin PCB subjects
in the Common Entrance Test. In case of candidates belonging
to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribesand Other Backward
Classes, the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility
will be 40% of the aggregate in PCB groupin both qualifying
examination and Common Entrance Test.

for Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy
& Yoga courses, have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th
std. orequivalent exam with PHYSICS, CHEMISTRY & BIOLOGY
as optional subjects with ENGLISH as one of the languagesof
study and obtained at least 50% of the aggregate marks in
the PCB group. In case of candidates belongingto Scheduled
Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes, the
minimum marks for the purpose of eligibilitywill be 40%
of the aggregate in PCB group in the qualifying examination.
For admission to Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy
/ Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses, the candidateshould
have completed the age of 17 years as on 31st December 2006.

for Engineering and Technology courses,
have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th Std. or equivalent
examwith PHYSICS & MATHEMATICS along with CHEMISTRY
/ BIO-TECHNOLOGY / COMPUTER SCIENCE / ELECTRONICS /BIOLOGY
as optional subjects with ENGLISH as one of the languages
of study and obtained at least 45% of theaggregate marks
in the optional subjects. In case of candidates belonging
to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribesand Other Backward
Classes, the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility
will be 40% of the aggregate marksin the optional subjects
in the qualifying examination.

for Architecture course, have passed
Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th Std. or equivalent exam with MATHEMATICS
&ENGLISH as compulsory subjects and obtained at least
50% of marks in aggregate in all the subjects in the qualifyingexamination
and should secure not less than 40% of marks taken together
in both Part – I & II of the Aptitude Test.
NOTE :-1. Other Backward Classes means the reserved
categories such as Category – 1, 2A, 2B, 3A & 3B for the
purpose of reservation.
2. A candidate who had obtained a seat in any discipline
through the CET Cell in any of the previous years will not be
eligible to appearfor the Common Entrance Test for selection
of a seat in the same discipline. Such candidate will immediately
forfeit the seatselected by him during the previous years, upon
selection of a seat in a different discipline during this year.
IMPORTANT : This year, the Merit list
of candidates for admission to Medical and Dental courses will
be determined only on the basis of marksobtained by candidates
in PCB subjects in the Common Entrance Test. For Ayurveda /
Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga /Engineering /
echnology courses, the Merit list will be determined on the
basis of marks obtained in the respective optional subjects,in
both qualifying examination and the Common Entrance Test taken
in equal proportions. For Architecture course, the Merit list
will be determinedon the basis of marks obtained in both qualifying
examination and Part – I & II of the Aptitude Test taken
in equal proportions.
4. SUPPLY OF BROCHURE WITH APPLICATION FORM
:
Brochure with application form will be supplied through the
schools and colleges in which the candidate studied or appearedfor
12th std. or 2nd PUC examination upon submission of a demand
draft for Rs. 550/- to the Principals in advance,drawn
in favour of “The Special Officer, CET Cell, Bangalore”
payable at Bangalore and Rs. 400/- for candidatesbelonging
to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Category – 1. The
last date for submission of Demand Draft to thePrincipals of
Schools and Colleges within Karnataka will be 16-03-2006.
Application forms and brochures areexpected to reach the respective
schools and colleges by 21-03-2006.
The repeater candidates and ex-students who have passed the
qualifying examination in the state of Karnataka arealso required
to procure the brochure with application form through their
respective schools & colleges / Speed Post.
The Karnataka candidates residing outside Karnataka (Horanadu,
Gadinadu and other Karnataka candidates), who arestudying or
who have studied 12th std. or equivalent exam and appeared for
examination outside the state ofKarnataka, within the territory
of India, can procure the brochure with application form by
‘Speed Post’, by sendinga self-addressed cloth-lined envelope
of size 25 cm x 30 cm along with a demand draft for Rs. 650/-
drawn in favour of“The Special Officer, CET Cell, Bangalore”
payable at Bangalore and the Karnataka candidates residing outside
India canget the brochure with application form by sending a
demand draft for Rs. 2000/-. The contents on the self-addressedenvelope
should be in English or Kannada language only. The cover in
which the demand draft and self-addressedenvelope are sent should
be boldly super scribed with the words “REQUEST FOR CET –
2006 BROCHURE” and should besent to the following address
of the Special Officer by “Speed Post” ONLY. The CET
Cell will not take responsibilityfor envelopes sent through
courier or given in person or through any other private arrangement
and also for incompleteand insufficient address on the envelope.
The last date for submission of Demand Drafts by ‘Speed Post’
to CET Cellfrom candidates residing outside Karnataka / India
will be 18-03-2006. Candidates residing outside Karnataka
/ Indiacan expect the Application form and brochure from the
CET Cell by 21-03-2006.

In case no consensus is arrived at with Private Professional
institutions, the 'CET 2006' application will be applicable
ONLY in respect of seats in Government/University Colleges and
in aided Courses in Private Aided institutions in the State
of Karnataka.
